Important Information for Patients with Diabetes or Those Taking GLP-1 Medications
If you have diabetes or are taking a GLP-1 medication, such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, Zepbound®, Trulicity®, Rybelsus®, or similar medications, it is important to carefully review your preparation instructions and discuss any medication questions with your care team before your procedure.
Medication instructions may vary depending on the type of procedure you are having, the timing of your procedure, the medications you take, and your individual medical history. Because every patient’s treatment plan is unique, medication recommendations should be individualized for your specific needs.
Before Your Procedure
- Review all preparation instructions as soon as you receive them.
- Follow any dietary or bowel preparation instructions provided by your care team.
- Monitor your blood glucose as directed by your healthcare provider if you have diabetes.
- Bring an up-to-date list of your medications to your appointment.
- Let your care team know if you use insulin, a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), an insulin pump, or take a GLP-1 medication.
